I love this video from January 2015, when my dad was just starting his recovery from his aneurysm. It was a rare moment of affection and playfulness from my parents.

The parallels between my mom and my dad were uncanny. Both suffered mysterious and catastrophic ailments that left them completely incapacitated and in the hospital for months. Both ended up having to take care of the other for an extended period of time.

And yet, there is one notable difference. My dad regained consciousness within a week. My mom never woke up.

I for one know how grateful my dad is for the way mom my took care of him, and he only wanted to do the same for the last 14 months.
