Sometimes the days seem to drag along. Other times, the months fly by. It’s hard to process that it’s been 10 months now since my mom went into cardiac arrest. 10 months now that she’s been in a persistent vegetative state.
Man, whoever coined the term really wasn’t kidding with the “persistent” part …
Anyway, I wish I had some news. Any news, really. But … I don’t. She’s officially still “stable,” which sounds great on the surface, but is just a more optimistic way of saying that she hasn’t shown any signs of improvement in consciousness.
So, the waiting continues. Here’s a photo from a happier time … 15 years ago, on Christmas Eve … the first and only time the four of us ever got hammered together.
